Contribution

We are proud to be an organization established in Kyoto. Kyoto is a traditional city known for the concentration of Japanese history, but this is a tradition that is built today by adopting new elements that fit the generation.
Ishida Taiseisha makes efforts to contribute to the cultural society in the old, and new Kyoto.

Communicating Cultural Information

The informational magazine "Kyoto," issued for 15 years from 1992 to 2006, was our independent publication based on the various aspects of Kyoto with a wide range of themes from traditional crafts and kimonos to Kyoto cuisine. In 2000, "Shinise Mall" opened as an online shopping website using the community based network through the publication of this brochure. While being a commercial site, we acquire repeat fans with unique contents such as writer features that include many national treasures as well as articles about traditional living in Kyoto.
There are still some back issues of "Kyoto." If you are interested, please contact (info@j-kyoto.ne.jp)

Accepting Applications for Woodblock Carving Designs

We invite the public to submit their own card designs for a chance to win the “Woodblock Renaissance Card Design Prize”, a tradition we started in 2008 with the aim to renew people’s appreciation of traditional woodblock carving craftsmanship and promote further growth of the art form. In the second contest held in 2009, we received over 600 submissions from all ages, ranging from as young as 4 to 89 years old. Kyoto’s finest craftsmen use the winning design submissions to create actual woodblock carvings.
